Raul Gorrín: How to eliminate distractions that disconnect us from our obligations

Raul Gorrín. Usually it spends often. We answer the mail, and in the blink of an eye, we are in a news portal or social networks with multiple tabs open on your computer.

Suddenly we noticed that we are falling into the game and distractions disconnect us from what we have to do, which generates a direct impact on the success of my business and in my personal life.

A friend, who is an expert on these issues technology recommended to me: The best thing to do to distract yourself is to remove all social media applications on your phone, download the Chrome Stay Focused plugin that allows you to limit the time social to 20 minutes per day and installed the Eradicator news Feed to completely remove the Facebook news service networks. That works and boosts productivity.

Going through this process can reach optimal levels of concentration. It is curious to understand how others handle the distractions, the goal is to stay focused to do the job to do, be productive and win.

My friend gave me other tips that can help maintain concentration which I will now share with you:

1. During the day, work in blocks of 15 minutes.

With so much going on in your business, it is very easy to get distracted multitasking. It has been found that by working on blocks of time where you focus on one specific goal at a time This will significantly increase your productivity. Studies show that working while distracted is like working after being up all night: Productivity is reduced by up to 50 percent or more.

Start planning what tasks you like to do for the week. Tasks are then divided into blocks of 15 minutes, thus realistic timetables for not wasting time. There is an application called TimeDoctor that allows users to be more responsible. Keeps track of applications that make up a second and gives an insight on how the work was done.

For more information about working in block used time, it is recommended to take a look at a technique called Pomodoro.

2. Forget less and do more. You have to be precise.

According to a recent study, people tend to over promise. Things that are not met tend to decrease the value of commitments and word. We must be honest with the time you take to do a quality job. Meeting the schedule and program in a realistic period increases confidence, relieves pressure and stress. (An investigation shows that the sense of control over your schedule reduces mental fatigue).

It is convenient to add 25% to the total time of the initial calculation in which you can do homework, that allows the delay does not represent a heart attack. Having that extra time allows  you to be able to meet deadlines, without delay or personal stress. You can use the iDoneThis implementation to gauge track tasks based on the day.

3. Productivity and fixed schedule

Successful people often start the day with a deadline and have an hour to complete assignments. You have to create an ideal program based on their priorities. You try to make the fixed schedule that is  realistic. This will force you to make any number of decisions with greater productivity at the perfect time.

4. Set clear goals and remind staff what goals should be met.

Ideally, Choose five major objectives achievable within a reasonable time which can be quarterly and write them on cards and put them in visible places. If distracted, you look at the card with the quarterly targets and to commit to work to meet the goal. Restating the objectives for each weekly meeting with the team, so that everyone knows that if they are not doing what they should, then we must change course and put the accelerator to the programmer.

Studies show that even subtle reminders  can make decisions that lead to their achievement. The Departments of major companies and organizations such as the Ritz Carlton to the Oval Office of the White House used daily messages to discuss with your team goals.

5. Allow a sticky note be your guide

It is recommended that every night five priorities critical to plan the next day with the following two principles:

Urgency. What are the priorities?
Return of investment. What objects must have the highest value of investment with minimal use of time? "
Put these priorities into a sticky note on top of the computer screen. That helps to organize, does not allow you to procrastinate and prevents an end result where you have to stay up late working to achieve the objectives.

Studies show that our environment can have a huge impact on our decisions without us noticing. The sticky note creates an environment that helps you stay focused.

6. Paying someone to hold you accountable

When you have a task you know you have to do, but do not feel motivated to ask your assistant to force you to fulfill it. This should be part of the job responsibilities of the employee. If something needs to be done for a specific day, the worker must have within its goals to put positive pressure on leader to fulfill the task, that pressure is invaluable.
